Okay, so Sony announced the pricing and battery life for the PSP, and everyone is going nuts over how it’s going to be so cheap compared to what everyone was expecting, but no one has really paid much attention to this:
4-6 hours battery life….
Umm… as far as I’m concerned… that’s a really bad figure. The DS, PSPs main competitor has 6-10 hours. If you’ll recall, the N-Gage launched with a battery life of 3-6 hours, and no one was much impressed. So, why is it everyone is so blinded by the handhelds price tag to complain about the battery life?
Sony is going to have to step up the battery life ASAP if they want to keep in the running alongside the DS. I know Sony has some dedicated zealots... err, fans, but I don’t see that many of them will appreciate a meager 4-6 hours of playtime between charges. On top of that, to claim that more graphically intense games will suck up the battery faster? I’m sorry, but that really doesn’t cut it as far as I’m concerned.
Has anyone else given this any thought?
Oh, on a side note, as to avoid any conflict here: I am not anti-PSP. On the contrary, I am as anxiously awaiting the launch day as anyone else, and still plan on getting one, I just have issues with the aforementioned battery life.
