Gamecube really done for, or is it a conspiracy?

IGN has an article with President of Nintedo Corporate Affairs discussing the Gamecube's success in 2003. Suppoively they've reclaimed the #2 spot, but as I read the article, I got the feeling there was quite a bit of spin. The
BBC UK had a very different outlook for Nintendo. Frankly, I think they are BOTH a bit off the mark.

THQ has officially confirmed its plans to bring Dark Summit to Nintendo GameCube. This unique mission based, action/adventure snowboarding title is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2002.

Toysrus.com, which is operated in conjunction with Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN.O), began offering the consoles, bundled with games in a package, at 2 p.m. PDT, with each package costing $399. By 2:04 p.m., according to a spokesman for Toysrus.com, all of the packages had sold out.
