Unreal II: The Awakening Review
posted by: Action Vault on 3/26/2003 7:36:39 AM

Action Vault has added their review of Unreal II: The Awakening. Here is a bit of what they thought:

"While admittedly a tad on the short side, Legend has debatably crafted one of the most enjoyable single-player shooters thus far. Easily as intuitive as any of its pick up and play peers, the game excels at delivering a varied gaming experience that centers around twitch action, but also encompasses infiltrative and defensively oriented scenarios for the more tactically minded."

Finally a review of Unreal II is here.

Gamespot has a review of Unreal II up for the masses. They gave it a decent score, but I have to question them pestering about lack of multiplayer support since it was made clear this was a single player only game. Oh well, worth the read anyhow.

Let's get right to it:

"When a game starts with the kind of bang that Unreal II does, it's a great thing. Well, right up until that bang is muffled by aggravation and a smidgen of disappointment. I'm a good half to two-thirds of the way through Legend's graphically gorgeous single-player shooter and the little review I write in my head while playing a game still has the comparisons to Half-Life in it..."

Unreal II goes GOLD. Yes. You heard right.

Gamespot has a nice updated preview, click above for the full monty or read these snippets, your choice:

" finally, it's really almost here. We've played through the majority of the game, and--as you'll be able to see for yourself early next year--it looks like the promise to deliver a top-notch sequel to Unreal wasn't all hype. Some recent hands-on time afforded us a good look at what makes Unreal II stand out, so forget what you think you know about the game and read on. "
