The Animals Are Getting Restless in THQ's New Barnyard Video Game for the PlayStation(R)2 System, Nintendo GameCube(TM), Game Boy(R) Advance and Windows PC

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- THQ Inc. (Nasdaq: THQI) today announced the release of the Barnyard video game for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo GameCube(TM), Game Boy(R) Advance and Windows PC. Based on the highly anticipated feature film scheduled for theatrical release in North America on August 4, which was written, produced and directed by Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura, The Nutty Professor, Kung Pow), the Barnyard video game depicts what life is like for animals once the farmer is away. Players will be able to interact with all of their favorite characters from the movie while trying to prove they have what it takes to be the biggest party animal of them all.

"Following the antics of Otis the cow, the Barnyard video game is the perfect way for fans of the film to continue enjoying wacky farm animal interactions once they leave the theater," said Steve Dauterman, senior vice president of product development, THQ. "With its free-roaming design, the Barnyard video game is sure to provide countless hours of farm explorations, challenging missions, and action-packed games and is the perfect continuation in our long-standing relationship with Nickelodeon that has resulted in sales of nearly 40-million units worldwide to date."

"We're very excited to be working with our long-time partner THQ on the launch of Nickelodeon's newest interactive property," said Paul Jelinek, vice president, digital media products of Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group. "The Barnyard video game will bring a new side of farm-life to living rooms across America, complete with flying chickens, creeping coyotes and taunting cows."

About the Paramount Pictures' and Nickelodeon Movies' Film Barnyard

Written, produced and directed by acclaimed comedy writer/producer, Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty, Ace Ventura, The Nutty Professor, Kung Pow), and from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, producers of the Oscar(R) nominated Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, comes this hilarious look at what really happens in a barnyard when the farmer's back is turned. Barnyard is a lighthearted tale, filmed entirely in CGI, centering on Otis (voiced by Kevin James), a carefree party cow who enjoys singing, dancing and playing tricks on humans. Unlike his father Ben (voiced by Sam Elliott), the respected patriarch of the farm, and Miles, the wise old mule (voiced by Emmy Award-winning actor Danny Glover), Otis is careless about keeping the animals' humanlike talents a secret. But when suddenly put in the position of responsibility, the utterly irresponsible cow finds the courage to be a leader. The cast is rounded off with the voice talents of Wanda Sykes and Courteney Cox. The film Barnyard is scheduled to release on August 4, 2006.

About the Barnyard Video Game

Players will enter the world of Nickelodeon's newest adventure and bring the Barnyard movie to life. The story begins with players creating their own cow and joining the other animals on the Barnyard farm. Players will interact with all of their favorite characters from the movie as they roam this open world while engaging in activities such as customizing their own barn and touring the countryside on a BMX bike. The game includes action-packed challenges and missions based on the antics of Otis and his friends and its free-form game play allows players to explore environments from the film, such as Walnut Woods, Dankweed Pond and the Barnyard itself.

The Barnyard video game is currently available for the PlayStation 2 system, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Windows PC. The Wii version of the game is expected to launch this fall. The console and Windows PC versions of the game were developed by THQ's Blue Tongue Entertainment studio, while the Game Boy Advance version was developed by Halfbrick Studios, both located in Australia.
