The folks over at
FriendTech are planning to market an upgraded Xbox that utilizes a 1.4Ghz processor. I ask, why? Go out and buy yourself a goddamn PC if that's what you want.

Only a few details are known for sure regarding the next generation Xbox. We know ATI will be doing the graphics and IBM will be providing the CPU... but what's not entirely clear is if the next Xbox will be backwards compatable with original Xbox games, ala Playstation and Gameboy standards. Many gamers are up in arms at the potential lack of backwards compatability. Read more over at

The Mercury News in San Jose says Microsoft has been quietly circulating the specs for the next generation Xbox and some of the info has managed to leak out to the press. It's rumored the Xbox Next will not have a hard drive or other "

Forbes says Microsoft and Sony will cut prices on their respective consoles by the time E3 hits. "Banc of America expects Sony and Microsoft to cut prices on their respective PlayStation 2 and Xbox videogame consoles to $149 (or even $129) from $179 prices ahead of the E3 trade show in May 2004, a reduction that is long overdue." They also think that Nintendo may start selling Gamecube games for a bit cheaper as well.

Chief Xbox Officer Robbie Bach says Microsoft is shooting for 1 million XBox Live users by June of 2004. Sony responded saying it would release a camera for use with it's online service. Sony claims the lead with overall online units sold, but considering the install bases of each conole, Xbox Live dominates Sony Online. Read more at

The Register has information regarding sales figures for XBL in Europe. Microsoft has also listed quite a few titles to appear on XBL in the next few months, two of which happen to be Wolfenstein and Brute Force!
Xbox firmly seated in #2

IGN had a great article on the Xbox holiday season. The Xbox is clearly leading the Gamecube in popularity, mostly fueled by the immense success of XBox Live. I personally am predicting 2003 is going to be the year of the Xbox. So many great titles have recently been released and so many more are coming out in 2003. I think by next Christmas, Sony will be starting to sweat bullets.

Gamers Europe has posted their preview of the upcoming Xbox game XIII. Here is a bit of what to expect:
"All this sounds like the makings of a good game, and the split screen console multiplayer, and 32 person LAN/Net play on the PC version should add to the fun. However, without good gameplay, the game will be nothing. Therefore we'll all have to wait until March 2003 for the simultaneous European release...."

Gamers Europe has recently posted their review of Racing Evoluzione for the Xbox. Here is a bit of what they found:
"One of the most inspired parts of the game is that at last there is a reason in a race game for spending hour after hour racing track after track - success. Success in business, production, league tables, popularity, public interest and race results. Measurable partly by the expansion of the factory/office menu system that you will see as you choose where your cars are going."
