For the first time in a long while, the Texas primaries have actual meaning.

And for once, I am stumped on who to vote for or even which party.

I am a Republican, not totally fired up about McCain, but I say he has earned the shot at running the country. The other choices are the unelectable Ron Paul (poster child for if Woody Allen was a quasi-liberterian), and Huckabee. Huckabee lost whatever hope he had with me when his initial reaction to the Bhutto assassination was a..... diatribe on illegal immigration in the US?

Eh?

So if I vote republican, the choice is how much influence to give Huckabee at the convention, since McCain has it virtually sewn up. I liked Thompson, but he did not make it this far.

Democrat side: Hillary should do OK here in Texas, and would be the most favorible match up against McCain, but in reality, Obama and Clinton will most likely split Texas delegates fairly evenly given the bizarre way that the democrats decide the delegates here, with just the bragging rights for winning the popular vote of the big state at stake. Obama is new blood, and I applaud the Democrats for bringing in someone who does not represent the old guard into the fray, and you have to admit, the blow to the Clinton's machine that his campaign has brought about makes me smile.

It is like the Cowboys in this years NFL playoffs. If they could not beat the Giants at home, they did not deserve to advance. So, I hope that Obama is matched against McCain, even though I think McCain would stand a better chance against Clinton.

So the choices:
McCain - to lessen Huckabees convention influence.
Paul - because, it might be fun to talk about it later.
Huckabee - if a divine miracle strikes me as I enter the voting booth.

Obama - To give the new blood a shot and watch the Clintons squirm.
Clinton -  To go for the most favoribly match up for McCain.

Whoever wins, even Clinton, will have earned it, and I am still undecided.
