"Even with all of this complexity, the learning curve is great. Daytona USA is very easy to pick up and play, without the frustration of other racers. This is the best grace of this game over anything else. Its not over-complicated with bizarre controls or strange handling. Rather, you can take to the road with ease and after about twenty minutes you ca
"What is truly remarkable about this Dreamcast port is the blistering speed at which the races take place. The action moves at a steady 60fps and there is not a trace of slow-down, even as numerous cars vie for position on screen. The only spot where I was expecting the frame rate to suffer was during the online play. This was
"Overall, the game is not perfect. Its small but noticable online flaws, its quirky starting control, and the fact it doesn't include a damned thing from Daytona USA 2: Battle On the Edge (an even more definitive arcade racing experience- it even took my attention from Super GT) hurt its race for perfection. But
"We do have a few complaints, though -- while the sense of speed is amazing, the controls are a bit touchy. A slight jog of the analog stick results in some drastic changes, and we had a really hard time getting used to the physics of the cars when it comes to powersliding and cornering. However, these problem
"At first we thought we were doing quite well -- our competitor choose to race with a manual shift (which should have been our first warning) and we were first off the line with a good, hard lead, which we maintained well into the second lap. Of course, our bouncing off the walls did little good, and our competitor got the

"I would recommend Daytona USA for a purchase. Before trying out the game, everyone should be aware of how important it is to drive smart in the game. If you drive carelessly and don’t pay close attention to precision, you w
Oh, how we’ve waited for this one. For six years, Daytona fans have been denied a perfect home port of the greatest arcade racer ever made. Sure, the Saturn and PC ports controlled okay, but none of them could come close to recreating the graphical splendor of Lockheed-Martin’s Model 2 arcade chipset. But fear not , for Sega loves you, and the definitive Daytona h

The Final Word:
This is as good as it gets for arcade racers. All we can really ask for is more of the same. Immense replay value, rock solid graphics, and the goofy but loveable Daytona music add up to a fantastic racing game and AAA Dreamcast title that deserves a spot in your
So far, with the limited time we've had with Daytona USA 2001, we can safely say it is the most impressive version of the game ever, surpassing even the arcade version. The only complaint we have so far is that the default controls felt a little twitchy at first. Actually, that's an understatement. The default controls are horribly twitchy, enough to make you lose all hope for the game. B
