Among the barrage of titles being announced for Nintendos now popular DS portable, is Animal Crossing. The original Animal Crossing game for N64 never saw life anywhere but Japan, and the successor for Gamecube enjoyed success all over the place.

Nintendo has taken notice of the sales figures and has announced that an Animal Crossing game is indeed in development for the DS.

While no details or release date were mentioned, Nintendo did show off a short demo of the game as it is now. The DS version of the game will make use of many of the DS' special features, like the touch screen for writing/drawing etc, and will support some form of multiplayer function.
