Over the past couple days, there's been a lot of speculation regarding Nintendo's next-gen game system... and whether or not there would even be one or that it was delayed, etc.  The Register has the full story.

Thanks to Gamespy for bringing us news regarding Nintendo's 'big announcement' that was supposed to occur during E3.  Nintendo will be launching a new portable system called the "Nintendo DS", DS for Dual Screen.  Read the press release on Gamespy.

IGN has an article with President of Nintedo Corporate Affairs discussing the Gamecube's success in 2003. Suppoively they've reclaimed the #2 spot, but as I read the article, I got the feeling there was quite a bit of spin. The BBC UK had a very different outlook for Nintendo. Frankly, I think they are BOTH a bit off the mark.

THQ has officially confirmed its plans to bring Dark Summit to Nintendo GameCube. This unique mission based, action/adventure snowboarding title is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2002.

On Toysrus.com, the Net unit operated by Toys "R" Us and Amazon.com, Nintendo's GameCube was available for just minutes before the available supply ran out.

Toysrus.com, which is operated in conjunction with Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN.O), began offering the consoles, bundled with games in a package, at 2 p.m. PDT, with each package costing $399. By 2:04 p.m., according to a spokesman for Toysrus.com, all of the packages had sold out.

In a preview of the upcoming video game wars, Toysrus.com Inc. said Monday that it sold out of its pre-order allotment of Nintendo Co.'s GameCube consoles in four minutes--about eight times faster than it sold out of Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox consoles in September.
