August 03, 2004 - Today, Nokia and THQ Wireless announced WWE Afterschock for the N-Gage. The title is to be a joint venture between THQ and JAKKS Pacific in bringing the superstars of the WWE to the N-Gage. It's been known for some time that a WWE game was in the works, but details were non-existant until now.
WWE Aftershock for the N-Gage challenges players to get into the ring, muscle it up and battle against ten WWE Superstars for the coveted WWE Championship. WWE Aftershock offers multiplayer action via Bluetooth and is expected to hit the shelves in Q4 2004.
"The WWE is one of the strongest and most well-known brands in entertainment today," said Pasi Polonen, Director of Game Publishing, Games Business Unit, Nokia. "We are thrilled to offer a WWE title to N-Gage users - it's like winning the World Heavyweight Championship belt!" "The N-Gage platform provides gamers with a whole new attitude towards gaming - throw it in your pocket and go," said Tim Walsh, President THQ Wireless. "Its unique combination of gaming and phone features make the N-Gage as original as the WWE and a natural partner for us."
WWE Aftershock promises real-time 3d action using various camera angles for a unique visual experience to the N-Gage platform. Virtual superstars can duke it out in quick exhibition matches, grueling survival modes, tempting tournaments and over the top Main Event matches. WWE Aftershock offers a wide variety of single player and multi-player modes to provide endless competition. The N-Gage Arena enhances the competitive and community aspects through ranking systems and unlockable superstars.
WWE Aftershock is the first wrestling title to hit the N-Gage, and is due out before the end of the year. More as it develops.
