It seems the many years of waiting is finally about to pay off. Here's a snippet of the Gamespot preview:
"The last chapter of Master of Orion III's long development history has been one of slipping release dates. But while Infogrames hasn't yet announced that the game has gone gold, it does seem very near to completion."

Gamespot has posted up a Q&A with Constantine Hantzopoulos, the games producer. Click above for the whole story or check out this snippet:
"We've been at art asset lock now for about three weeks and hit feature completion two weeks ago. We're just nailing down the last of the few crash bugs related to multiplayer, still doing some minor tuning on the user interface, and continuing to make minor tweaks to game balance. We are very close."
