written by: Dale Alan Mayrose on 1/26/2004 11:13:02 AM

Gamers depart for paradise gone wrong with the launch of the single-player demo of Far Cry , Ubisoft's highly-anticipated action shooter featuring a beautiful tropical paradise seething with danger at every turn.

"Speculation on the game and the true capabilities of its engine has run rampant within the gaming community, but seeing is truly believing," said Tony Kee, VP of Marketing at Ubisoft. "We are confident that the release of this demo will prove beyond a doubt that Far Cry belongs in the upper echelon of FPS gaming."

The single-player demo offers an action-packed glimpse into the Far Cry world showcasing all the technically-advanced gameplay and jaw-dropping scenes from the full version of the game. Featuring a huge beach-laden level, the demo proudly showcases Far Cry's critically-acclaimed CryENGINE, huge game environments, deadly A.I., and the longest view-distance ever witnessed in a first-person shooter. Visit  http://www.fileplanet.com/ or http://www.gigex.com/ to download the demo today.

As of 9AM on January 21st , gamers can experience firsthand the incredible power of Far Cry's proprietary CryENGINE. The CryENGINE powers the game's non-scripted AI allowing players to play the demo again and again utilizing different tactics and strategic approaches to the level each time. Far Cry redefines the meaning of re-playability. Players will experience an unprecedented level of immersion as they uncover the game's many intricacies and unbelievable attention to detail.

Additionally, before the Far Cry official launch in March, fans will also have the chance to play a Far Cry multiplayer demo. Visit http://farcry.ubi.com/ for more information.
