RPGDot has posted a review of X2-The Threat. Here is a quote from the review:
"Let’s get down to the nuts and bolts. Graphics, sound and performance. Graphically, the game is quite stunning. At times you really believe you are piloting your ship and are about to dock with a space station. The engine is 3D and highly immersive. The animations are still a little blocky, especially in the cut scenes, but I’ve seen far worse. The music is excellent, ranging from soft and soothing to total
"She heard the distinct noise as her two missiles found their quarry and the enemy fighter exploded before her. She steered her ship through the remnants of her foe and the explosion, then set her attention back to the next closest enemy ship. A quick check of shield and laser strength, remaining missiles and engine speed, and she locked her combat system onto her next victim."
"The Khaak are new in the X-Universe but it is not just their being new that's interesting, it is also how the Khaak act." ... "once their target is destroyed, they turn as one and take on their next victim - but the situation immediately changes from amazement to horror when you realize that they have chosen YOU to be their next victim..."
"The developers tell us about some of their favorite locations within the vibrant universe of Egosoft's space hybrid."
"The battle had been fierce and quick. I had been attacked from behind. A mistake I had been led into making like an Argnu cattle flock meandering into a Paranid death pit. The enemy ships had come from the far gate, behind me, while I danced with the main force before me with that awesome, spike leading mother ship."
