July 12, 2004 - Along side announcing the early unveiling of the PS3 during their press conference, Sony also made mention of the pricing for UMD discs to developers. The number disclosed was 250 yen (approx $2.50). Currently, the cost of producing a DVD costs 200 yen for single layered, and 300 yen for dual layered. Sony is now working on an Online system for developers to order UMD discs in order to avoid shortages.
This still doesn't answer the cost of each game to the public though...
